· Introduction of effective and up-to-date food distribution systems/methods.
· Successful management of drought and famine and food crisis situations.
· Providing food procurement assistance to poor and socially deprived people.
· Integrating food security policy with disaster management/relief distribution management.
· Timely delivery of foodgrains to the public in targeted sectors.
· Developing a professional, competent and efficient workforce.
Activities
· Managing and managing the overall food supply of the country.
· Implementation of national food policy framework.

· Matters related to food budgeting, accounting and finance, food planning, research and monitoring.
· Ensuring minimum support price for food crops produced by producers.
· To conduct research on any matter assigned to this department.
